The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) is the exam needed by undergraduate students who wish to study in the US after the 12th grade. The SAT has three sections – Mathematics, Writing and Critical Reading

The examination pattern for the SAT is as follows:

Critical Reading (Multiple Choice) Critical Reading (Multiple Choice) Critical Reading (Multiple Choice)	25 Minutes 25 Minutes 20 Minutes	70 Minutes	The question assess students reading skills such as : - Identifying main & supporting ideas. - Determining the meaning of words in contents. - Understanding author's purpose. - Understanding the structure and function of sentences.

Mathematics (Students produced response & Multiple Choice) Mathematics (Multiple Choice) Mathematics (Multiple Choice)	25 Minutes 25 Minutes 20 Minutes	70 Minutes	The question covers topics such as: • Number & Operations • Algebra and Functions • Geometry • Statistics • Data Analysis

Variable (Unsecured, Multiple Choice)	25 Minutes	25 Minutes	This section may have Critical reading, Mathematics or Multiple Choice writing questions. It does not count toward the final score.
